"The Car of My Future"
Four high school seniors received scholarships totaling $10,000
from the Washington State Auto Dealers Association in the organization's
second-annual scholarship program. Applicants were asked to
describe and name their perfect vehicle, explain how it would
support the career of their choice, lifestyle or hobby, and
describe an advertising campaign for the vehicle, including
the target purchaser. They were given the choice of sharing
their vision through a visual medium or a creative writing piece.
"The Association is pleased to help these four deserving
young people realize their academic goals," said WSADA
Executive Vice President Vicki Giles Fabré. "The
program offered a totally unique view into the mindset of the
next generation of customers and the judges were very impressed
with the applicants' thoughtfulness and creativity."
Entries were evaluated on a 100 point scale which included
letters of reference from a teacher or school advisor as well
as a service/charitable organization illustrating the student’s
community service work. Judges included WSADA dealer members
and staff, as well as a representative from the media, and an
automobile manufacturer.
“Our dealer members as individuals are very active in
supporting the academic dreams of young people,” added
Ms. Fabré. “The Washington State Auto Dealers Association
is honored to take that a step further and play a role in helping
these young people as they embark on this important next stage
in their lives.”
